MOXI
At Belle, we are proud to offer Sciton’s newest non ablative fractionated laser, MOXI™. This gentle 1927nm laser is a powerful pre-juvenation treatment. Moxi is ideal for those looking to correct the initials signs of sun damage and aging, along with delaying the appearance of aging maintaining their youthful skin.
What does MOXI treat?
- MOXI is the perfect treatment to target pigmentation & sun damage, uneven skin tone (melasma)
- Stimulates collagen production in the area treated. Improves the skins texture, leaving the skin smoother post treatment.
- MOXI is safe on all skin types. That’s right, skin types 1-6 are safely able to be treated with this laser.
What can I expect during my Moxi appointment?
- A consultation is required. Your provider will determine if a MOXI treatment is right for you and your skin concerns.
- Your provider will collect a detailed medical history, review prior cosmetic treatments (if applicable), review consent forms and answer any questions you may have regarding the treatment itself and/or post care.
- Photos for your chart will be taken to be able to review the treatments success.
- Your face will be cleansed and numbing ointment will be applied for 30- 40 minutes prior to your laser treatment.
- You will wear protective eyewear during your appointment.
- After the treatment, the treated areas will feel very warm (like a shower with a sunburn) for approximately 1-2 hours.
- You will have SPF applied immediately post treatment.
- The treated areas will be red and then reduce to more of a pink tone as time goes on the initial day.
- You will receive detailed post care instructions.
How long is a MOXI appointment?
- Consult + treatment would be approximately 1 hour 15 minutes
- If consult done prior, your treatment will be 1 hour. Allowing 30-40 minutes for numbing, the treatment itself only takes 6-8 minutes.
What does a MOXI treatment healing timeline look like? And downtime?
- Day 1 (day of treatment)/ Day 2: Skin will be pink where treated, may start to feel rough like sandpaper, may start to see MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) forming.
- Day 3-5: MENDS will continue to appear darker. Your skin will start to slough (different than a peel) from around the mouth and work its way to the perimeter of the face. MENDS may be more concentrated in certain areas depending on pigmentation.
- Day 6-7: Skin will be nearly healed, and you will see that post MOXI glow!
- Downtime is minimal- mostly “social” downtime.
- The 24 hours you will want to avoid make up, but should be wearing SPF (ZO sheer fluid or ZO Sunscreen + Primer).
What are MENDS?
- MENDS are microscopic epidermal necrotic debris. These are small micro dots where the laser was applied. As these microtones heal, they will darken and feel rough.
- Between days 3-5 these MENDS will slough off, revealing your new skin.
How many treatments will I need?
- This will vary from patient to patient. You will see an improvement with 1 treatment, but depending on your goals and skin condition a series of 3 treatments is optimal.
- To maintain treatment results, it is crucial to be diligent with skincare and SPF.
What do I need for post laser skincare?
- A gentle cleanser, moisturizer and SPF (preferably mineral based)
- We carry ZO skincare and you may purchase these products in office for $150
